In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the birth of hip-hop, we are pleased to invite you to Shaolin Sounds, an afternoon of hip-hop performances, visual art, and history surrounding Staten Island’s contributions to hip-hop culture.
Our outdoor garden area will be graced with performances by Staten Island local legends Eddy I. and Tyrone Briggs, along with other surprises. We will also hear from guest speaker Will Power about his Wu-Tang Clan mural across the street and from True 2 Life about how hip-hop ties into their organizational mission of ending gun violence.
Our friends at Projectivity will be here with information about their hip-hop-centric programs and initiatives and an interactive graffiti art activity.
Free iced coffee from Staten Island’s own Killah Koffee will be available for all attendees.
