About this Program

The Auburn Avenue Research Library on African American Culture and History and the Hip-Hop50 ATL Consortium in collaboration with the City of Atlanta’s Office of the Mayor host the first in a summer-long film screening series to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop. The second screening in the series features Scratch on July 13th. The post-screening discussion for Scratch will be led by Scratch Out Loud DJ Experience Co-founder, E. Hall.

Scratch - A feature-length documentary film about hip-hop DJing, otherwise known as turntablism. From the South Bronx in the 1970s to San Francisco now, the world's best scratchers, beat-diggers, party-rockers, and producers wax poetic on beats, breaks, battles, and the infinite possibilities of vinyl.

Post-screening will be moderated by Scratch Out Loud along with special guest, Mr. Collipark. Scratch Out Loud's purpose is to preserve the art of DJing and turntablism while passing along the art of Hip-Hop and music culture to future generations.
